Our Vision

Is to provide holistic programs that support the healing, growth, and development of individuals and their families in underserved communities.

Detroit Strong

The beauty of humanity is most visible in the service of one another. The Oikos Project is dedicated to its four pillars: mental health education and services, shelter for those in need of housing, life development and financial education for our youth (ages 9-17), and rebuilding and fortifying the family infrastructure.

Who We Are

The Oikos Project is inspired by the Greek word oikonomia which best translates to economy and household management. We understand that the personal economy and household management of individuals and families is what establishes productive and sound communities. The Oikos Project will bring dignity back to those in greatest need. Our project was founded with four pillars, mental health, shelter, financial literacy, and building family structures. We recognize that many of the challenges households face can be remedied through one of these pillars.

The Oikos Project aims to provide shelter and affordable housing for temporary and long-term care, support families through counseling and mental health awareness programming, provide financial wellness guidance for youth and adults, and use holistic principles and methods for positive personal and household outcomes.

Addressing Homelessness

Homelessness takes on many faces. We understand that those experiencing homelessness have different needs and could face some of the same challenges leading them to experiencing homelessness or being at risk for homelessness. The Oikos Project is prepared to support individuals and families facing chronic and temporary homelessness, from those needing subsidies like Section 8 to those needing a bit of support to stabilize their insecure homes.

Meeting The Needs

Access to survival resources should be available to everyone. The Oikos Project works with individuals and families to give them access to survival resources by connecting them to programs on their path to housing stability.
